Adding Dynamic Content to Web Pages

The Central CAPT web site has moved to be part of a new National CAPT web site. In 10 seconds you will be automatically redirected to http://captus.samhsa.gov/central/central.cfm -- Use this form if you have any questions.

To add dynamic content to a Web page, you have to know what Plug-ins or CGIs are available on your Web server. You can find this out by asking the person in charge of your Web site. They should be able to provide you with a list of commands you can use to include dynamic content.

As an example, here is some dynamic content:

Today's date is: 8/20/08

The browser you are using is: CCBot/1.0 (+http://www.commoncrawl.org/bot.html)

Your unique Internet address (also called the IP address) is: 38.103.63.61

All of the preceding content is automatically updated each time a person comes to this Web page. There are many other ways dynamic content can be used. If you click the "News and Events" link at the left, for example, all of the news items come from a database. They are not written into the code for the Web page. That way we can have items disappear from the page at a pre-determined date.
