Science-Based Prevention Stategies
| The Central CAPT web site has moved to be part of a new National CAPT web site. In 10 seconds you will be automatically redirected to http://captus.samhsa.gov/central/central.cfm -- Use this form if you have any questions. |
A strategy is an individual component of a program intervention (e.g., life skills training or mentoring). CSAP promotes six broad strategies: information dissemination, prevention education, alternatives, problem identification and referral, community-based process and environmental strategies. Other organizations may promote slightly different broad strategies. Many prevention activities, well supported by research, fit within these broad strategy areas.
This section is being developed with content gathered from several of the CAPT Centers. It represents a starting point and is by no means comprehensive. Rather than offer headings with no content, we have chosen to add headings as new research is compiled. Visit often to review new findings or send us research you have compiled on these or other prevention activities.
